  1. Have your parents ever refused to buy you some things you really wanted? If so, tell me about it.

  2. My parents one time refused me to buy me a motorcycle caused they thought it was to dangerous for me.I got really pissed but, after time passed i realized that they were right beacuse an accident can happen in any time. They refused to buy me that for my own safety and now that i look forward to think about it i understand them well and i appreciate their care for me as their child.

  3. When the iPod touch first came out my brother got one for his birthday. Then when I saw saw how cool it was I wanted one for my birthday but they said no. My parents made a deal with me that if I worked hard, helped out and kept good grades they would pay for the insurance on it if I paid for the iPod touch. I worked hard around the house and helped out. The iPod was more expensive than the insurance but it was worth it.

    another example is:

When I was younger one of my friends had a cell phone. I went home and asked my parents for a phone too but of course they said no. I begged and pleaded with them but they still refused. I asked why not and they said it was because I was too young, he has a phone because he has diabetes and needs to be able to contact his parents.

  4. Um, i honestly dont think that my parents have refused something that i dont really need. i guess sometimes when i want to go to barnes and nobles but i guess thats about it because it is sometimes a hassle to go to a bookstore once a week.

  5. When i was smaller I have always wanted a puppy I would beg my parents for one and they would always say no. I would always cry because i wanted one so they made a deal with that if i was responsible I could get one. So as the time passed they gave my a puppy for my birthday and it was a lot of responsability because you had to feed it take it a shower take it for walks and all of that. Now I now why they told me to wait.

  7. I once wanted another pair of shoes that I saw , but my mom refused to buy it for me because she said I really didn't need them and that they weren't important. At first I was mad that I didn't get them but later on I saw that I used the money that I was gonna use on the shoes and used it for something important that I really needed.

  8. There was this one time when I asked my mom for a phone, which was a months ago, and she said no because "I was too young for one". I really wanted a cell phone, and my parents would even get paraniod about getting a cell phone. Later on I realized that I didn't need it because I don't actually need to call anyone unless it was an emergency. I thought instead of using the money for a phone and the phone bills, I could use that money for something I really need instead of something I really want.

  11. When I was younger I always wanted a cell phone. Looking back, I don't know when I'd use it, but I remember always asking my parents for one. I'd always try and get my parents to buy me one for a christmas or birthday present, but they never would. My dad would always tell me that he'd get me a cell phone when I got a job.

  12. Honestly my parents have never refused to buy me anything because i have a job. I work at McDonalds and make a decent amount of money. With that money i am careful though i buy the things that i need but also what i want. I also save my money because there are some things that are expensive and i need to save up for.

  14. When I was ten years old I always wanted a puppy but my parents always said "no". I would ask "why not" and they would always tell me that having a puppy would be a very big responsability and for that i had to be more responsibile and know how to take care of my self and then I could have one. A few years latter i asked for it again and they said "yes" because they knew I was growing and becoming more responsible, but now I understand why they use to say that having a puppy was a great responsability and it is not very easy as it looks like!

  17. As an artist I require alot of supplies that help me create my vision. When I was 16 years old , I wanted to have a painter's kit so I could have more to work with. I asked my mom if I could have that for my birthday but she would not let me. At the time, we could not afford it at the time . Since we were moving I could understand why I could not have the kit for my birthday. I know my mother works hard and only wantsthe best for me and my little brother. I just want her to know I appericate all that she has done for us. I never want to take her for granted, she is a very important person in my life. However I eventually did recieve my kit but two years later from my mommy.

  19. i once wanted a new pair of soccer shoes that i really wanted, but they costed $50, so my mom said no, that i can just buy any other shoes and use them to play soccer, so i was really mad because not every shoe is the same when playing soccer, but eventually, i found some shoes that were slim enough from the toes to kick the ball and they only cost $20.

  20. When I was younger I would beg to get everything that was even remotly cool looking. This ranged from a lego set to a swimming pool. My parents would rarely say yes. When I was really young I would cry over this, but as I got older, I learned not to ask. This made it so that when I got something it was actually meaningful. Now I am very careful with spending my money, and instead I put my money into a savings account.

  21. I have asked for many thing in my life, and rarely got anything from my parents. As a kid I would always want something cool from my parents; something up-to-date. Something everyone else had, like an Xbox, or video games or my own television. Although I begged and begged and begged my parents would almost never say yes. As I have grown up, I now look back to my younger years and think, would I have really used them; would I have really needed them? Now I look back and think to myself, no I would really not have used it all that much, or I there are more important thing I could have used the money for. I also began to notice my parents weren't my piggy-bank and I couldn't just ask for thing and they'd appear. I began to realize that there was a difference from wants and needs and now I make sure to only spend my money on something I absolutely want or something I need. It has helped my realize money is something important in life and you can't go out and spend it all to be successful.

  23. There have been countless times where I have not gotten what i wanted. I live with five brothers and 1 sister, and you learn not to expect much for yourself. In my house hold, what you work for is what you get, such an example was when my parents bought me a laptop. They expected me to work for the money though jobs or chores they assigned until I had enough for the laptop.

My sister and I was like WHAT!? and then my sister and I bugged them around about it every where we went, even in the bathroom. Finally, t-moblie gave a deal the kids are free until 2012 and then my parents surprised us with cell phones and I couldnt be happier. And the best part was that year I began my freshment year in high school. I kove them!!!

  27. A couple of months ago i asked my parents to buy me a new tv but they refused. They told me that if a want a new tv i had to work for it by getting really good grades or i had to buy it myself. They said a tv is a want not a necessity that i can keep living without one.So i earned some money by selling some of my old video games and bought a new tv.I still got somthing out of it though that if theres somthing someone wants they have to be determined to work hard for it because in the end its all worth it.

  29. There have never really been times when my parents have no to me. And when they did say no, I never really got mad or very sad. But now I know why. Somehow I knew that there were somethings that I just did not need it's those experiences that made me always want a job. I also realize that my parents just want what is best for me.

So now i have to work for my own needs and they may help me out with it. Which im on their side now because thats just making me see how to earn things feels much better and makes you more aware of taking care of them

I had been struggling with my grades and they thought it would make it worse. I really wanted one though I knew that I had to work harder in school. Once my grades bagan to improve, my parents started to think about getting one for us. In the end, I knew that I couldn't get it as a gift, so I saved for a couple of months and bought one for myself.

Even after I raised enough money my parents said I had to wait for my brother and cousin to get their part. Finally, after waiting a few weeks I got my PS3. That tought me to always be patient and it made me a more responsible person with my money.
